Referred to as “a non-playing musical father” in a radio interview involving his son, the clarinettist Peter Furniss, John Furniss has been on the RSC Board since 2000, after retiring as a physics teacher and moving to Hunton. Hunton is the home village of no fewer than four recent RSC Trustees - is there something in the water? John has fulfilled several roles during that time: he was Concert Secretary for five years, before looking after the society’s publications for a while, then served as Acting Chairman for a year. He now takes more of a back seat and produces the printed programmes for the concerts.
