The Society's AGM was held on 22 June. The Chairman, Nick Reckert, reported a successful 2015-16 season, with member numbers close to the all-time record; the Concert Secretary, Anna Jackson, reviewed the concerts, which had been well received by audiences; and the Treasurer, Philip Wicks, reported a better-than-budgeted financial outcome. Despite a modest operating surplus, three successive hikes in venue rental fees mean ticket prices must rise a year earlier than planned: season tickets will go up from £39 to £42 for six concerts, and single tickets from £13 to £14. These prices are still well below the average of other local music societies, and continue to offer excellent value.
Linda Wright retired from the Board, with thanks from her colleagues. A new Trustee is expected to be inducted shortly. Minutes of the AGM are available on request from [email protected].
