Andrew’s interest in choral music started as a young chorister at a large parish church, and his interest in classical music came through playing the violin at school and with local orchestras. His violin had an airing recently after 35 years in its case, and now competes for scarce practice time with an alto saxophone which he started to learn a few years ago.
Andrew retired (early) to Swaledale in 2011 after a varied career which included running hotels and conference centres, managing a trade association’s commercial companies and latterly working as a self-employed financial controller and company secretary for a number of small companies. He is now fully occupied using those skills to the benefit of a number of local voluntary organisations. Being a member of the Swale Singers offers him some light musical relief from his number-crunching.
